However, contemporary films are starting to challenge these stereotypes and present a more diverse and empowering representation of Chinese women in politics. One such film that stands out is "The Farewell" directed by Lulu Wang. The movie follows the story of a Chinese-American woman who returns to China with her family to say goodbye to their grandmother, who is unaware of her terminal illness. Throughout the film, the protagonist navigates cultural differences and struggles with her identity as a Chinese woman living in the United States.
